Apoorv Singh Karki directs ‘Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai,’ a ZEE5 original film based on real events that explore the battle between power and willpower. Set to release on May 23, the courtroom drama showcases yet another outstanding performance by acclaimed actor Manoj Bajpayee, as seen in the gripping trailer. Bajpayee portrays P.C. Solanki, a dedicated session court lawyer fighting a five-year-long case to seek justice for young girls victimized by a self-styled godman.
During the trailer launch for the movie, Manoj candidly discussed the challenges and artistic liberties associated with portraying a character inspired by a well-known figure. In his remarks, he expressed, “The greatest challenge when portraying a popular personality, whose images and videos circulate daily, is to capture their external image convincingly. The focus often revolves around their mannerisms, gait, speech, or eating habits. However, when portraying an ordinary person who has achieved something remarkable in life and has an intriguing journey, as an artist like myself, I have the advantage of providing a unique perspective on that character. I don’t necessarily have to be physically present with that person or spend time with them to mimic their external traits.“
Furthermore, Bajpayee, a recipient of the Padma Shri award, further stated, “In portraying PC Solanki in ‘Bandaa,’ my primary focus has been to delve into and comprehend his inner psyche. I aimed to understand his state of mind when he took on this case and his thoughts and emotions while dealing with it. Did he experience vulnerability or moments of weakness? And from where did he draw his strength? While crafting this character, I dedicatedly paid attention to these aspects.“
Director Apoorv Singh Karki said, “Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai will always hold a specific spot in my heart because it is my first film as a filmmaker, and I couldn’t be happier to have Manoj Bajpayee play the lead role. I couldn’t have asked for a better performer to play the lead role in this movie. I can say with pride that this is one of Manoj Sir’s best performances, and audiences will remember his concluding monologue from the movie for a very long time.
